Frequently Asked Questions
What is the purpose of the Alaska Division?
The Alaska Division provides organization and unity to all Alaskan clubs. As part of the US Fencing Association, the Alaska Division hosts tournaments and qualifies fencers to fence in national-level competitions.
Where can I learn to fence in Alaska?
All of the clubs in the Alaska Division offer fencing instruction to beginners and experienced fencers at all levels. Contact a specific club to inquire about prices, schedules and facilities.
Where can I get information about fencing clubs in my local area?
Wherever clubs are listed on this web site, then name is hyperlinked to that club's web site (if they have a web presence). If not, there is contact name and phone number for that club.
Where can I buy fencing uniforms and equipment?
There are many fencing equipment retailers throughout the world (none in Alaska) with a web presence. Some offer discounts to fencing club members, or when you order through a local club. Equipment is also available through vendor displays and booths at regional and national competitions. Your best approach to selecting equipment, especially for new fencers, is to check with your instructor or club officers at a local club and ask for their advice. Most club web sites and the USFA web site have links to fencing equipment vendors.
