Volunteers needed!
Alaskan Fencers,
Sections is rapidly approaching, and with the event only two weeks away we will need volunteers to help with some key functions. Below you will see a listing of the things that we will need help with. There are sign-ups at AFC and FCA so please grab either Jacquie Johnson or Roger Hull to get your name on the list!
Food & BBQ Planning
The volunteers for this group will help coordinate the fencer and spectator snackage, as well as preparations for a BBQ after events are concluded on Saturday (about 6:00PM). Everyone is invited by the way, even if you didn’t fence. There will be a planning meeting at FCA on May 2nd to coordinate who’s bringing and doing what.
Facilities
Facilities Volunteers will help with the preparations before the tournament such as waxing and cleaning of the floors. Additionally, they will help with clean up after events each day and final clean up on Sunday. Some dates to consider … May 3rd, we will be waxing the floors and shampooing the carpets 10A-4P.
Operations
Those helping out with Operations of the tournament will assist with gear check, help with scoring and timekeeping during the tournament, assist with limited armory functions and Fencing Time (the tournament management program). On May 1st (Friday) 5:00P-7:00P we will be doing a Fencing Time Clinic and Gear Check clinic so that people are familiar with how to do the various duties. On May 8th, there will be gear check available 5:00P-7:00P for local fencers, we will need a volunteer to help out with this, as well as on the day of the events.
Equipment checks
If you are planning on fencing at Sections, we strongly encourage you to come to the gear check at FCA on Friday evening (May 8th).
We look forward to seeing everyone there!!
